Personal Information Collection Statement for Job Applicants
Purpose for which the data are collected and used
We collect, use and maintain personal data to (among other things) assess the suitability of candidates for a vacancy with it and any of its Company, and to negotiate with and make offers of employment to selected applicants. Any personal data you provide may be used by a Company to consider whether you are suitable for a position with that Company.
If you are required to complete a job application form certain information on the form is voluntary and will be so stated. Compulsory information is required for selection purposes. If such data is not provided, then this may affect the processing and outcome of your application.
Disclosure and transfer of personal data
The personal data collected may be transferred to our insurers and bankers; medical practices providing medical cover for employees; administrators or managers of Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme; and other companies engaged in contractual activities on our behalf, and other persons who we consider appropriate in connection with the purposes mentioned above.
We may disclose the data when required by law or court order, or as requested by any government or law enforcement authorities, or in the good faith that disclosure is otherwise necessary or advisable including and without limitation to protect our rights or properties or in circumstances which we consider to be related to any of the purposes for which the data are collected.
Data retention and security
We retain the personal data of unsuccessful applicants for a period of 2 years. Thereafter, the application, together with all material provided, will be confidentially disposed of. If an applicant accepts employment with us the personal data contained in his application will be transferred to a personnel file.
Where personal data is stored electronically, it will be kept in a password-protected form. Personal data, whether stored in electronic form on computers or in hard-copy form, will be accessible only by authorized officers or employees. Persons designated to handle personal data will be made acquainted with this Statement and told how to fulfill our obligations to you.
How to access or correct your data
If you wish to obtain a copy of any of your personal data or if you believe that the data relating to you which we collect and maintain is inaccurate, you may make the relevant data access request in accordance with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (“PDPO”). We reserve the right to charge a reasonable fee in accordance with the PDPO for the processing of any data access request.
